Love Is In The Air
My slacker owner is running behind again this month and so asked me to fill in for the newsletter. Just to let you know that the food around here is terrible and with his incessant singing all hours of the day and night it’s impossible to get any sleep. If one of you could bring it to his attention (maybe an intervention is in order) I would certainly appreciate it.
I wanted to share some thoughts from my vast experience this last 9 months of existence.
1. You’re Never Too Old To Play – Yes, I understand that as you age you can’t do the things you used to but you humans seem to forget the the need for play and fellowship does not disappear when you leave childhood. Perhaps you need to have new choices of games or venues but no matter what your age – there’s no reason not to join in the fun.
2. The Best Toys Are Found Not Bought – Humans spend way too much time looking for the next great expensive toy. You even buy me squeaky toys and knobby balls that only last a few days or weeks. I’m just as happy playing with the sock dangling half off your foot or your hand hanging off the side of the couch. Time and attention given or received from a friend are worth much more than any expensive ‘toy’.
3. Worrying Is A Waste Of Time - Some of you spend so much time analyzing and worrying about what might happen that you miss some great opportunities in the mean time. Most of you understand the time value of money but few of you understand the time value of action and ideas. Just do it, sure you’ll make some mistakes but you’ll have some exciting successes also.
4. Never Miss The Opportunity For A Nap – Sleep is high on my priority list. Much more so than cleaning or laundry or other menial chores – the only thing higher is food . Don’t get lazy on me now but 20 hours of work and 4 hours of sleep just isn’t enough. Every now and then you need to just relax, roll over on your back and let your tongue dangle out of your mouth. You’ll be surprised how wonderful it feels.
5. Stay In Touch To Your Loved Ones – I mean touch literally. You humans don’t touch enough – you cuddle babies and puppies but the people you’re supposed to care about don’t get enough snuggling from you. Don’t spare those hugs – HEY, it’s Valentines day – make the most of it…
Respectfully submitted,
