Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief

09/08/05 - The Chambersburg Noontime Lions Club has contributed $300 to the Lions Club International's Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Fund The gift will help fund a $200,000 Major Catastrophe Grant announced last week by Clement Kusiak, Lions Club International Foundation Chairman, who challenged Lions Clubs worldwide to contribute to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. "Lions consider themselves a part of both the world and local communities and our members were more than happy to quickly answer the call to help with this tragedy" said Dick Blackshire, club president. Blackshire said the Chambersburg Noontime Lions Club also participated in the relief funding for last year's Asian Tsunami and provides eyeglasses, scholarships, and various financial gifts throughout the community.
