I want it all and I want it now! - Queen 1989

I'm selfish... been that way since I was a small child. I've heard stories of me getting upset when someone else played with my toys - I'd cry and want them back.

Guess what - I'm not alone, it's human nature. In fact we need to be taught to be considerate to others or to put others needs above our own. Some of us learn it early in life while others never quite get it. Our society likes to play on that inner ego, selfishness and desire to be just a little (or a lot) better than the next guy. Unfortunately, a life of selfish ambition is rarely fulfilling - just read the biographies of our wealthiest celebrities and business tycoons and you will find pain and regret.

By contrast, when you look at people who lived a life of service to others you see that it is by helping others that we feel fulfilled. There's something about putting someone else's needs above my own that brings satisfaction.

Our LIONS motto is 'We Serve' and individually and corporately this club has lived up to that motto in the past. We want to continue to do so and be a positive presence in our community.

That brings us to our September community service project. We are going to do a painting project for the South Central Community Action Program

(SCCAP) at the shelter. If you're of able body and at least partially sound mind we'd love to have you help. It's only a half day project so you can still spend your afternoon with normal Saturday chores. Contact Lion Steve Hawbaker, (717)262-2953 to indicate your willingness to serve.
