Strategic Self-Analysis

Plato is credited with the quote "The unanalyzed life is not worth living" and with January 1 just around the corner it's the perfect time to look at where we've been and in so doing plan for an even greater 2008. Here's a few questions to get you started.

1. What accomplishments are you most proud of and why? Make a mental list of your accomplishments in 2007 and pick the one or two that you're most proud of - it may be one that nobody else even noticed.

2. Who are the interesting people you've met this year? Not the richest or most famous, but the most interesting... I have a few of these on my list and by phone or email I've been able to keep in touch and it's been a delight to pick their brain about different subjects since we met.

3. What's the greatest obstacle you've overcome? Oh what fun it is to kick down the door (or pick the lock) on some obstacle in your life - any standouts this past year?

4. How are you different than you were 12 months ago? Hopefully this is in a better way - but either way it's a good one to analyze.

5. Who are the new friends you've made this year? Not just acquaintances but the kind of friend you'd take off work to help with a project if they asked... and they'd do the same for you.

As we look back at 2007 for the Chambersburg Noontime Lions Club we certainly have a lot to be thankful for along with the sadness of missing friends who are no longer with us.

We've accomplished some exciting things this past year under Lion John's leadership - the work for Habitat, Homeless Shelter and another successful Derby to name a few - plus the many ways that we monetarily are able to contribute to our community and to individual lives.

Lion Norma's programs have introduced us to some interesting people as well as the new faces that many of you have been bringing to our regular meetings as your guests. I would also like to extend a welcome to all our new members in 2007. We look forward to exciting times ahead as we receive leadership and input from these individuals.

We are a different club than we were 12 months ago - not better or worse but different because of the dynamics of new personalities that join us and change us in subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) ways. It's the beauty and dynamics of an organization made up of people and their personalities.

And lastly, I appreciate the friendships that have developed over the past year with many of the club members. It has been a pleasure to get to know many of you better by working together in a number of club activities and events.
