February 2008 - Newsletter & President's Corner

Love Is In The Air

My slacker owner is running behind again this month and so asked me to fill in for the newsletter. Just to let you know that the food around here is terrible and with his incessant singing all hours of the day and night it’s impossible to get any sleep. If one of you could bring it to his attention (maybe an intervention is in order) I would certainly appreciate it.

I wanted to share some thoughts from my vast experience this last 9 months of existence.

Strategic Self-Analysis

Plato is credited with the quote "The unanalyzed life is not worth living" and with January 1 just around the corner it's the perfect time to look at where we've been and in so doing plan for an even greater 2008. Here's a few questions to get you started.

1. What accomplishments are you most proud of and why? Make a mental list of your accomplishments in 2007 and pick the one or two that you're most proud of - it may be one that nobody else even noticed.

Practice Makes Perfect... NOPE!

Many of you know that I belong to a semi-professional chorus in Frederick, MD (I call it semi-pro because we charge for gigs but the money goes to charity). We are an auditioned chorus to ensure that we maintain a consistent quality level and I'm one of the section leaders so - I get to judge the new guys wanting to get in.

Gems - Gems - Gems September 11, 2007

L to R, Laura Miller, Ann Wagner, Norma BighamWe were pleased to have Ann Wagner, a certified gemologist from Ludwig Jewelers as a guest speaker at our regular Noon Lions meeting.

Ann provided invaluable information on the many different qualities of stones and the different aspects that affect the value of gemstones.
